Various laboratories demand a certain amount of solvent to be left behind at the end of evaporation and reconstituted subsequently prior to analysis. The normal SpeedoVap High Volume Nitrogen Evaporator might not be able to satisfy their needs in such situations. The SpeedoVap HV Optical End Point Nitrogen Evaporator is the best solution to these specialized applications. It allows users the ability to evaporate samples to a predetermined endpoint volume, 0.5 mL, 1.0 mL, or 2.0 mL, with accuracy and repeatability. The evaporation process will also automatically cease once the pre-set volume is achieved, and therefore, no manual monitoring is needed.
The purposefully designed endpoint test tubes are in 0.5 mL, 1 mL, 2 mL, and total volume capacities, designed to be easily and consistently reconstituted. This system will be operating unattended with automated endpoint detection, allowing the user to concentrate on other activities. The controlled water bath can be adjusted between ambient temperature up to 80 degrees Celsius, and the nitrogen regulator built into the controlled water bath ensures constant and efficient evaporation. The LED display allows it to have great visibility even under fume hoods, and the small size does not require extra space on the hood. Depending on the requirements of the setup, exhaust may be flowed to the atmosphere or into a fume hood.
1. What is the mechanism of the optical endpoint detection?
The SpeedoVap HV Optical End Point system has sensors to tell when the solvent volume has reached the set volume (0.5 mL, 1.0 mL, or 2.0 mL), and then the evaporation process in that particular test tube ceases.
2. Is it possible to schedule samples of varying endpoint volumes at the same time?
Yes. The stations are independent, and the user can adjust station endpoint volumes to various samples in a single run.
3. Does it need manual control when it is operational?
No. The system is to be operated without an attendant. When the parameters are configured, the evaporation will automatically terminate at the required endpoint without the intervention of an operator.
4. What is the maximum and minimum range of temperatures that the water bath can withstand?
The inbuilt water bath can be set to ambient temperature up to 80 degrees Celsius, which allows flexibility for different types of samples and solvent characteristics.
5. Are the tubes at the end reusable?
Yes. The specially created endpoint test tubes are reusable, accurately calibrated, and simple to clean, such that there is uniform and cost-effective operation.
